Surah ad-Duha Ayat 8 with English Translation

8. اور اس نے آپ کو (وصالِ حق کا) حاجت مند پایا تو اس نے (اپنی لذت دید سے نواز کر ہمیشہ کے لئے ہر طلب سے) بے نیاز کر دیا۔ یا- اور اس نے آپ کو (جواد و کریم) پایا تو اس نے (آپ کے ذریعے) محتاجوں کو غنی کر دیا۔٭o

٭ ان تینوں تراجم میں یَتِیماً کو فَاٰوٰی کا، ضآلًّا کو فَھَدٰی کا اور عائِلًا کو فَاَغنٰی کا مفعولِ مقدم قرار دیا ہے۔ (ملاحظہ ہو: التفسیر الکبیر، القرطبی، البحر المحیط، روح البیان، الشفاء اور شرح خفاجی)

8. He found you in need (of His support) and enriched you (with His abundant favours).*

* It can also mean: ‘He found you benevolent and (through you) fulfilled the needs of the poor.’ It may also mean: ‘He found you in need (of support for your Prophetic Mission) and strengthened you (through the support of Abu Talib, Khadija, Abu Bakr and others).’ It can also mean: ‘He found you in need (of Divine Proofs and Manifest Signs), and He made you self-sufficient (by bestowing these upon you).’ In verses 6, 7 and 8: ‘yatiman’ is considered the direct object of ‘fa-’awa’, ‘dallan’ the direct object of ‘fa-hada’ and ‘‘a’ilan’ the direct object of ‘fa-aghna’. See: al-Tha‘labi, al-Razi, al-Qurtubi, Abu Hayyan, Abu Hafs al-Hanbali, al-Qadi ‘Iyad, al-Zurqani and others.

8. And He found you seeking (closeness with your Lord), and (then blessed you with the pleasure of His sight and) freed you of every need (forever). Or And He found you compassionate and benevolent, then (through you) made the destitute non-liable.

* In translating these three Verses 6, 7 and 8 yatiman is considered the direct object of fa-’awa; dallan is considered the direct object of fa-hada and ‘a’ilan is considered the direct object of fa-aghna. (See: al-Tafsir al-Kabir, al-Qurtubi, al-Bahr al-Muhit, Ruh al-Bayan, al-Shifa and Sharh al-Khafaji.)

8. Wawajadaka AAailan faaghna

8. Og Han så deg trengende (etter å møte Herren), og gjorde deg uavhengig (av alt begjær ved å velsigne deg med et herlig syn av Seg selv)!
(8. Og Han så deg [sjenerøs], og gjorde de trengende selvtilstrekkelige [gjennom deg]*!)

* I denne oversettelsen er yatīmann («de foreldreløse») blitt tolket som det direkte objektet av fa-ā-wā («så ga Han dem ly»). Se: at Tafsīr-al-kabīr, Qortobi, al-Bahr-ol-mohīt, Roh-ol-bayān, ash-Shifā’ og Sharah Khafāji.

8. और उसने आपको (विसाले हक़्क़ का) हाजत मंद पाया तो उसने (अपनी लज़्ज़ते दीद से नवाज़ कर हमेशा के लिए हर तलब से) बे-नियाज़ कर दिया। या और उसने आपको (जव्वादो करीम) पाया तो उसने (आपके ज़रीए) मोहताजों को ग़नी कर दिया। * (3)

*1, 2, 3: इन तीनों तराजिम में ‘यतीमन’ को ‘फआवा’ का, ‘दॉल्लन’ को ‘फ-हदा’ का और ‘आइलन’ को ‘फ-अग़्ना’ का मफ्ऊले मुक़द्दम क़रार दिया है। (मुलाहिज़ा हो: तफ्सीरे कबीर, तफ्सीरे क़ुर्तबी, बहरे मुहीत, रूहुल बयान, अश्शिफा और शर्हे ख़फाजी)

৮. আর তিনি আপনাকে পেয়েছেন (হক্বে বারি তা’আলার সাথে মিলিত হবার) মুখাপেক্ষী, অতঃপর তিনি (স্বীয় দর্শনের সুখানুভবে অনুগ্রহ করে চিরদিনের সকল চাহিদা থেকে) অমুখাপেক্ষী করেছেন। <br>অথবা: তিনি আপনাকে পেয়েছেন (অতিশয় দানশীল ও কল্যাণময়), অতঃপর তিনি (আপনার মাধ্যমে) মুখাপেক্ষীদের অমুখাপেক্ষী করেছেন।*

* এ তিনটি অনুবাদে ‘ইয়াতিমান’কে ‘ফাআওয়া’র, ‘দ্বাল্লান’কে ‘ফাহাদা’র এবং ‘আয়িলান’কে ‘ফাআগনা’-এর মাফউলে মুকাদ্দাম (অর্থাৎ ক্রিয়ার পূর্বে কর্মের উল্লেখ) নির্ধারণ করা হয়েছে। (দেখুন: তাফসীরে কাবীর, কুরতুবী, বাহরে মুহীত, রূহুল বায়ান, শিফা ও শরহে খুফাজী।)
